Open Congress

There’s a new website that offers the ability to track legislative activity in Congress. It’s called, unsurprisingly, Open Congress. The site provides information on pending legislation, links to blogs on the subject bill, and allows you to make comments. As well, you can see the votes cast by every elected representative and senator on any bill. You can also sign up for feeds that will update automatically on votes, comments, and other activity. At first blush, it feels like C-SPAN for the blogger, but it might just provide more citizens with a much clearer view of the actions taken by their elected representatives. That it might shine some much needed light on the "sausage-making" would be a good thing. Now to get the cameras in Congress under the control of C-Span and not the elected ones……..
